Hello. My name is Haley Chartres – Hales – and I am a celebrant based in Melbourne, Australia. I provide services for marriage, funeral, naming ceremonies and more. Mostly, I’m inspired by peoples’ stories. May I help to craft and share yours?

Events that people truly remember are equal parts art and science – and I insist on adding a good dose of fun too. Your wedding day or life event should be a time that brings you closer to your loved ones, which starts and ends with capturing and sharing your story with integrity. For me, that’s an enormous privilege.

Whether you’re preparing to wed, saying goodbye to a loved one, or celebrating the arrival of a brand new face to your family, the right celebrant will guide you with confidence, creativity and compassion. I take great pride in nurturing the individual needs of my clients and adding just a little bit extra too – read my testimonials for some insight.

As a communications specialist and former television journalist, the majority of my time is spent embracing communication in its many shades - managing events, public speaking, and writing are my bread and butter. Being a celebrant is an extension of this, it’s a love job, which allows me to explore, articulate and celebrate love. Lucky me.

Big days that matter – weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies – are all about people. It’s my job to invite your loved ones to sit in the front row; to check the audio levels so your grandparents can hear; to pronounce your names with care; and to make light of children laughing or crying, mid way through your vows. I promise to smile with you. That’s what I do.

Soppiness aside, your celebrant is a third wheel during the most important and public declaration of your love! So make sure you choose someone who makes you feel comfortable and isn’t afraid to read you, and your guests, to get the tone just right on the day. I make that my mission, so give me a call if you’d like to meet – the coffee, wine or other spoils are on me.
